The review was largely completed in 2013, but a delay in getting government approval of the terms and conditions meant that it only came into effect in 2015. This means that it has been eight years since the last update. The law, customs and morals, events, and circumstances are constantly changing, and the General Conditions of Contract needs to remain relevant. With this in mind, the SAICE Contractual Affairs Subcommittee is carrying out a review of the 2015 edition. The General Conditions of Contract is widely used and understood in the in- dustry. The purpose of the review is not to re-write the contract from first principles, but to keep the existing configuration as far as possible. The subcommittee would appreciate any constructive input into the new ver- sion, tentatively named GCC 2022. Please send your suggestions to the Contractual Affairs Subcommittee Secretary Benti Czanik at benti@saice.org.za before 30 September 2021.  Update to the General Conditions of Contract for Construction Works 54 August 2021 Civil Engineering
