It provides govern- ment and statutory bodies with informa- tion and advice on matters affecting engineering technologists. IPET promotes the education and training of engineering technologists through liaison with educational institutions and employers, and encourages continuing professional development by providing affordable CPD to members. It rewards academic achievement and encourages gender equity among gradu- ates of ECSA-accredited technologist qualifications, like the BEng Tech, by annually awarding the highest academi- cally achieving woman and man at each participating university of technology. IPET is the home for graduate and professional engineering technologists of all engineering disciplines in South Africa and actively pursues communication and liaison with other societies who have engineering technologists among their members.
