6 December 2022 Civil Engineering Lean Construction is becoming very popular in Germany, enabling con- tractors and investors to better deliver construction projects, with better quali- ty, lower costs, and higher reliability to get things done as planned. Lean provides other ways to manage projects, such as Takt-time planning, the Last Planner System®, Scrum for early project design phases, and many process-optimization methods. The German Lean Construction Acade- my is the leader in this training sector and now provides the first course in South Africa, where professionals can become lean construction experts. The course is held in 3 modules from February to June 2023 in Cape Town. Besides practical classroom training, each participant will apply Lean Cons- truction in his business environment. A written exam ensures quality stan- dards, and the participant will get a certified Lean Construction Expert diploma, according to VDI 2553. (VDI is the biggest engineering association in Germany and is internationally well known).
