The Botswana Institution of Engineers (BIE) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and its Annual Gala Dinner on 15 September 2012. BIE invited SAICE to attend these to celebrate the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BIE and SAICE. Peter Kleynhans, SAICE President-elect and Theo Jacobs, SAICE International Officer attended the event, where Peter Kleynhans and Linda Moseki, BIE President, signed the MoU.

The AGM took place at the University of Botswana’s main library auditorium, followed by the gala dinner with the theme “Engineers’ Registration – Key to Sustainable Development” at the Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel.

The BIE mandate is to promote high standards of qualification, training, professional conduct and ethics amongst engineers in Botswana, and to strengthen relations and forge partnerships with other institutions of engineering in the SADC region and beyond. It is the BIE’s objective to ensure that engineers deliver the highest quality of engineering services for the protection of the public’s health, safety and welfare.
