Students usually desire the “ideal” job and always look to find the right door to step into to advance their careers. However, they seldom prepare themselves to step through the door as it opens. SAICE Student Chapter at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) saw this as opportunity to provide a platform for students to network and learn from mentors. They hosted their first annual Speed Mentoring event on Thursday, 28 July 2016.

Much like the notion of speed dating, each mentor was assigned to 2 students. After every 4 minutes the students would move to the next mentor. This process continued until each student had an opportunity to meet each mentor.

The WITS SAICE team extends a heartfelt thanks to the SAICE Johannesburg branch committee members, SAICE YMP, SAICE National Office, Professor Adesola.Ilemobade and the mentors who were instrumental in ensuring the success of the event.

  1. I was very interested to read about the Wits Student Chapter, having been part of its’ original establishment back in 1956. In fact I was the minute taker at the first meeting. Wonder how many of that 1956 class are still about? My graduation photo is still on my wall and has Profs. Lauf, Jennings, Midgley and Ockleston proudly displayed with the upcoming K Knight.
